This past week we had a great Kick-Off Event to start off the school year with G3. ThoughtWorks, a software design company and one of our partner organizations, was nice enough to host this exciting event! The students had a chance to meet girls in the program from other schools as well as get excited for the upcoming school year with G3.
Debbie Berebichez from ThoughtWorks led the event and coordinated some fun interactive activities for the girls. Additionally she was able to discuss with the students how data can be used (and is already being used!) to change the future.
Two groups of girls also presented their final projects from last year, explained their challenges and triumphs, and shared their experience in G3 with the other students.
” G3 for me was an opportunity to differentiate myself from the many other students applying to college. Now I think that a computer science career is something I may want to pursue in the future,” said Nadifa Kargbo of The Young Women’s Leadership School.
The night ended with the girls designing their ideal G3 t-shirt which will be voted on by all G3 participants.
